So I am going to try this out. You know recapping my week and what not, every week lol. This is my first one so bare with me as I figure out what kind of format I want to use and how things should be laid out.
Anyway though if you wanted to get to know Tony Rican (me) a little better this is the spot to do it… I guess lol.
If you guys don’t know Average Guy Gourmet is not my day job. I WISH it was but I am a financial data analyst. I know the exciting world of tables, numbers and queries! Woot Woot. So I wont bore you guys with the 9-5 day to day hum drum of numbers.
Monday evening after work I got a call from my 14 year old son who should have been in the middle of wrestling practice. He proceeds to hand the phone to the school trainer who tells me I have to pick Anthony up from school and take him to the doctor she thinks he has a concussion. He was complaining of headaches and dizziness since his tournament on Saturday (though he never told me about this).
So we went to Urgent Care and after a long battery of tests it turns out he was really dehydrated from a weight cut. After this he FINALLY let me take over his nutrition. I mean it isn’t like I was a Pro Wrestler for 15 years and really into fitness and eating right, and it isn’t like I spend most of my time cooking now. I am just glad though it wasn’t a concussion and he is now ok.
Wednesday is my Maddie/Daddy day where the two of us go comic book shopping and then I take her out to eat. Her choice of where she wants to sit and eat, or get something to go.
It was a small week comic book wise. These are the titles I picked up, I am sure you don’t want a review or lowdown on each book, but this does give you an idea of my nerdiness lol.
Maddie didn’t want he comics posted, not sure why lol she said I can tell you just not show you the comic. She picked up Invader Zim and a back issue of Archie. Now you would think with everything I cook and being able to pick any place to eat that she can, she would get something good… but nope we had dinner at McDonals lol.
Friday night I shot straight from work to East Aurora High School as Anthony had a wrestling meet.
His first match was vs. Glenbard South he won via Pin.
His second match of the night was against East Aurora which he won by tech.
Then it was up at 6am for more wrestling. This time we were at home at least. He still had to be there early to set up the gym at the High School. This time around it was a quad meet.
Match 1 vs. Downers Grove South win on points 14-3
Match 2 vs. Plainfield North win via Pin
Match 3 he bumped up a weight class ( he weighs 146 and was wrestling someone who weighed 155) from Aurora West win via pin. Freaking a lot of wrestling over the weekend.. the season is almost over though!
So his record on the season now is 27-1.
So that brings is to Sunday afternoon and evening. Well I skipped all the cooking but you can check out all my social media for that lol. The wife and I take at least one weekend to just go out on a date and that was today. We went for an early dinner and dessert.
We decided to drive to downtown Chicago and hit Safe House Chicago. A spy themed bar. She knew I would love it.. I mean I have said it a bunch I am freaking nerd lol. When you walk it it looks like you are walking into an office. You are asked for a password, if you don’t know it you have to perform a test. We.. didn’t know the password lol. So we had to have a mock gun dual. We had to stand back to back, take three paces turn and fire. I should have let my wife win but I was the quicker draw lol.
So I turn to face the door to be let in, and the wall next to me slid open instead lol. We went down a flight of stairs, were met with another door. Again once I reached for the door, the wall slid open. That is what let us into the restaurant itself.
I had an AMAZING burger with Brie cheese and bacon jam OMG I was in heaven! While we were eating we were given missions to complete. One of which was a scavenger hunt. You are given clues and have to search things out in the restaurant. I wont give them away because what is the fun in tell you all the secrets of the place. OH!! Almost forgot the password!! It’s hidden in the restaurant. Several places you can find it but you know again some of the fun is passing the tests, which again forgot to tell you there is a large wall of screens in the restaurant that show the entrance and all the people coming in and doing their tests lol.
Anyway after we ate and were ready to leave we were given a choice the simple exit or the secret exit. Well of course we picked the secret exit. Which is a laser maze. You know lasers.. and you have to kinda weave through them and not get hit by them. LOVED IT.
After we left we strolled around downtown for a bit then decided to grab some Coldstone and head home.
I know I know not super exciting, probably some things you didn’t care about either lol. I will say this, I am an avid reader of novels too I will catch you guys up on what I am reading next week I promise.
