Happy Friday everyone! Well here we are in November that means I am firmly planning that Thanksgiving menu. I like to play around and serve different things every year. Now don’t get me wrong I serve classics every year but I also like to mix it up and try something different each year too. So today I am dropping a really cool little side dish. I am making a Bourbon Bacon Sweet Potato Recipe! Yup, there are a lot of ways ot make Sweet Potatoes, so why make the same casserole year after year. This cool little mashed sweet potato recipe will knock every one off their feet and be a total hit with your family. Bourbon Bacon Sweet Potato Recipe

Total Time: 1 minute

Yield: 4 Servings

Bourbon Bacon Sweet Potato Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4 lb. Sweet Potatoes, Peeled and Cubed
  • 4 Bacon Slices, Cooked and Crumbled
  • 20 Sage Leaves
  • 1/3 Cup Milk
  • 4 Tbsp. Brown Sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. Bourbon
  • 1/2 Tbsp. Butter
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Instructions

  1. Add cubed sweet potatoes to a large pot and cover with cold water. Bring the potatoes to a boil and cook until they are fork tender, about 20 to 30 minutes.
  2. Heat pan/skillet over medium heat, add chopped bacon cook until crispy. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and place it on a paper towel to drain. Remove about 1 tablespoon of bacon fat from the skillet and set it aside.
  3. To the same skillet, add the butter and heat it over medium heat. Add the sage leaves and cook until they are crispy, about 1 to 2 minutes per side, then remove and set aside.
  4. When potatoes are done boiling drain and place in a large bowl and mash.
  5. add in the reserved bacon fat, the milk, the bourbon and the brown butter. Whip the potatoes again until everything is combined. Taste the potatoes and add the salt and pepper.
