Apple Crisp Shortbread Bars

Hey! Hopefully everyone had a great weekend. Well we are getting to that time where we go out apple picking. The weather is starting ot get cooler so it is time to change up the recipes a little bit. This one was a request from my wife. These Apple Crips Shortbread Bars were totally worth it too! lol. I won’t lie when it comes to desserts I try to control myself a bit, but when the camera was turned off I totally binged and over ate lol. So go ahead guys ring in the fall with a cool apple dessert, when you do make this one be sure to take a pic and post it to my Facebook page!

Apple Crips Shortbread Bars Recipe

Ingredients
  

Shortbread:

  • 1 Cup Flour
  • 1/2 Cup Butter
  • 1/4 Cup Sugar
  • 1 tsp. Vanilla
  • Salt

Filling:

  • 3 Large Apples peeled and sliced
  • 2 Tbsp. Flour
  • 2 tbsp. Sugar
  • 1 tsp. Cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. Nutmeg

Topping:

  • 3/4 Cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup flour
  • 1/4 Cup Butter Melted

Instructions
 

  • Pre-heat your oven to 300˚.
  • In medium bowl whip the butter for the base for several minutes until it becomes white. Add in sugar, vanilla, and salt and continue to mix until combined. Add in flour and mix.
  • Press mixture into a prepped 8x 8x baking dish and bake for about 15 minutes.
  • In another bowl combine apples, flour sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Toss until apples are completely coated.
  • In a small bowl mix all of the topping ingredients together.
  • Remove crust from the oven and turn heat up to 350˚. Layer your apples on the shirt bread and topping over that. Place in the oven and bake for about 30 minutes. Then chill for a couple of hours so it can set and be sliced to serve.
