Simple Classic Lasagna Recipe

Total Time 1 hour 36 minutes
Course Dinner
Cuisine American, Italian
Servings 10

Ingredients

  • 2 lb. Ground beef
  • 1 Onion Chopped
  • 4 Garlic Cloves Minced
  • 2 15 oz. Can Tomato Sauce
  • 1 12 oz. Can Tomato Paste
  • 1 tsp. Oregano
  • 1 tsp. Basil
  • 3 Cups Mozzarella Shredded
  • 16 oz. Ricotta Cheese
  • 1/2 Cup Parmesan Cheese
  • 16 oz. Lasagna Noodles
  • Salt
  • Pepper

Instructions

  • Heat 1 Tbsp. of olive oil in a large pan or skillet, add in onion and garlic and sauté for about 3-4 minutes.
  • Add in ground beef, break it up and cook until browned. Drain fat and return beef to the pan. Add tomato paste, tomato sauce, oregano, basil, salt and pepper. Take the tomato sauce can and fill it with water 2 times and add that also.
  • Mix together and bring to a boil, reduce heat and allow to simmer for about 25 minutes, stirring occasionally. While this is simmering preheat your oven to 350˚F.
  • Cook noodles according to boxed instructions.
  • In a large baking dish, add a little bit of the meat mixture, just enough to coat the bottom of the baking dish. Next add a layer of noodles, spread half of your ricotta cheese on top of the paste, 1/3 of your meat mixture, 1/2 of the parmesan, and 1/3 of the mozzarella. Repeat for the next layer.
  • For the last layer add the last of the meat mixture and your cheese.
  • Cover with foil and cook for about an hour, remove the foil and cook for another 10 minutes.
