Bacon Mac N Cheeseburger

Bacon Mac N Cheeseburger

Happy 4th of July!!

A couple of days ago I posted an awesome recipe with Mac and Cheese as it’s base. I had a decent amount of Mac n’ cheese left over from it so I wanted to use the rest of it up. So I went the wrote I always go when I need to make something and I am not sure… turn it into a burger some how! lol. Yup so I am making my Bacon Mac N Cheeseburger. Now this isn’t just a Bacon Cheeseburger with Mac and Cheese thrown on to it. Nope I am making the buns of this burger out of that Mac N Cheese. This ends up being a MONSTER of a burger. Heck even in the video you will notice it took me a couple of bites and I hadn’t reached the meat yet! You wont need to make a ton of these to feed everyone, and it will completely floor them how awesome the whole thing is!

Do you have an epic burger… something larger than life that I need to try? Hit me up and let me know!

Burgers
  1. 1 lb. Ground Beef
  2. 1/2 Cup Colby Jack Cheese, Shredded
  3. 4 Slices of Bacon
Mac n Cheese Buns
  1. 16 oz. Mac n Cheese (if you aren't making your own that would be 2 boxes)
  2. 2 Cups Flour
  3. Salt
  4. 4 Eggs
  5. 2 Tbsp. Milk
  6. 4 Cups Panko Breadcrumbs
Mac N Cheese Buns
  1. Make Mac n Cheese, whether fresh of boxed. Place in large bowl and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes to allow cheese to cool and thicken.
  2. Form 1 Cups worth of Mac N Cheese into each lower bun ( I used a burger press to make this simple) disc should be about 4.5 inches wide. For upper buns do use one cup each also but form a slight dome on the top.
  3. Wrap each bun in clear plastic wrap and place in the freezer for about 20 minutes to allow to completely freeze.
  4. Place flour and salt in small shallow bowl and mix together. Place eggs and milk in second and mis. In a third bowl place your Panko. One at a time dredge each bun half through the flour, then egg, and lastly panko. You can repeat a couple times to give your buns a thicker crust.
  5. In medium sauce pad add about 3-4 inches of oil and heat over a medium-high heat. When Oil begins to simmer, add Mac n cheese buns one at a time, frying for a couple of minutes each until golden brown. Remove and place on a paper towel to drain.
Burgers
  1. Form ground beef into 4 equal patties.
  2. Place 1/2 of the shredded Colby cheese in the center of two of the patties. Top with remaining two patties and pinch the edges to seal up.
  3. Place on grill and cook to your desired temperature.
Assembly
  1. Start with bottom Mac n Cheese bun, add burger patty, I sliced some tomato and lettuce to add to mine but this is completely option. Then add 2 strips of bacon and your favorite BBQ sauce.
  2. ENJOY!
