There are a couple of Puerto Rican recipes I am asked to make for friends and family all the time. Mofongo, arroz con gandules, rellenos de papas but I think the #1 thing I am always asked to make is Authentic Puerto Rican Pasteles. So boom here it is =)

Filling
  1. 1-1/2 lbs. Pork Shoulder, Cut in about 1/2 inch cubes
  2. 8 Garlic Cloves
  3. 1 Tbsp. Orengano
  4. Salt
  5. Pepper
  6. 1/4 Cup Lime Juice
  7. 1/4 Cup Orange Juice
  8. 1 Cup Pimento Stuffed Olives, Sliced
  9. 2 Cups Sofrito - if you need a recipe - https://youtu.be/s9IZT3v1P2Y
  10. (optional) 1/2 Cup Raisins (I don't use them since my dad doesn't like Raisins)
  11. 2 Tbsp. Achiote Oil
Masa
  1. 2 lbs. Yautia, Peeled and Cubed
  2. 2 lbs. Green Bananas, Unripe, Peeled and Chunked
  3. 1 Large Plantain, Peeled and Chunked
  4. 6 Tbsp. Achiote Oil
  5. Salt
  6. 1/4 Cup Milk (if you need it to smooth the texture out more, I didn't use it in the video it does make it easier)
Wrap
  1. Plantain Leaves
  2. Achiote Oil
  3. String
